The Shikimori API provides access to various data related to anime, manga, and user interactions on the Shikimori platform. It allows developers to fetch information about animes, mangas, characters, users, and more, while using OAuth2 for authentication.
Build an anime discovery site that searches titles and shows screenshots, sync a user's watchlist with OAuth2, or make a recommendation browser that displays related titles. You can read anime and manga details, images, characters and community lists using REST or GraphQL. Public read endpoints work without login; actions that change or access private user data require registering an OAuth2 application and obtaining a bearer token. The API is free to use for development and small apps but is rate-limited, so plan client-side throttling.
