Open Library provides an experimental API to search for book data. It can return data for multiple books in a single request, including Work and Edition level information, author IDs, book availability, and offers powerful sorting options.
Build a quick book-search widget, a personal reading-list app, or a cover-gallery for your site using Open Library’s search. You can pull rich metadata for works and editions, include availability from Archive.org, and fetch covers for display. The API is simple to call (search.json) and great for prototypes or small apps. Identify your app with a User-Agent/email to get higher request limits.
